Ireland tickets for Rugby World Cup 'extremely limited'

Organisers of the 2019 Rugby World Cup say tickets for matches involving Ireland "remain extremely limited" with a first-come-first-served ticket sales process set to begin this week.

The tournament gets underway on 20 September and demand to see Joe Schmidt’s Six Nations champions is on par with demand to see the hosts Japan, defending champions New Zealand and England in the pool stages.

All knockout matches are also "extremely limited" according to organisers.

Ticket sales will take place via a two-stage process with an exclusive opportunity for applicants who were unsuccessful in the 2018 sales ballots commencing tomorrow, 15 January, and sales to the general public following on 19 January.

While there is still reasonable availability for certain pool matches, tickets for pool games involving Japan, the All Blacks, Ireland and England are in high demand, with Ireland taking on Japan in their second game of Pool A in Fukuroi.

"For anybody considering buying tickets for matches that still have availability I suggest you move as quickly as possible when first-come-first-served sales begin," says Akira Shimazu, CEO of Japan's Rugby World Cup 2019 Organising Committee.

Ireland open their account against Scotland in Yokohama on 22 September and conclude their pool campaign in Fukuoka against Samoa on 12 October.
